Tracking Salary Transparency in Biotech Jobs with PharmaPayWatch.com

What can we learn from company job postings?

I’ve been collecting job posts from 13 major pharma and biotech companies since November 2024. At first, I was interested in providing accurate and timely information about new jobs to the community since LinkedIn is a dumpster fire.

However, it turns out there may be a lot of information you can learn about companies and the industry in general by watching how they hire!

My new project is pharmapaywatch.com, a job board and industry analysis website for the biotech and pharma industry. As of today, I’ve collected over 2,500 jobs from 13 top Pharma and Biotech companies, including Pfizer, Gilead, Caris Life Sciences, and Verily Life Sciences.

At the pharmapaywatch.com job board, I’m parsing salary information, remote or local status, key responsibilities, and only displaying jobs that have been posted in the last 30 days. Jobs posted in the last 3 days are marked Fresh, ensuring you don’t waste your time on stale jobs.

Many companies are posting salary data now, which makes it possible to categorize jobs and compare salaries between companies or fields.

Plot of overlapping salary ranges for each of 7 different job categories

Salary ranges for all roles grouped by category. Darker lines indicate higher overlap between different salary ranges. The min, max, and middle of each category is shown. Management positions are excluded from this plot. Salary ranges were wide this week, and Medical Practice had disjoint salary ranges due to a clinical trial physician for a Schizophrenia trial hired by BMS. Business & Product’s high salary was a single Senior Counsel for Business Development at BMS.

Every week, I’m publishing a newsletter with a summary of the jobs posted that week along with salary data, locations, and other information about the market. You can find an archive of the newsletters and more analysis on the blog.

I’m hoping that this becomes a valuable resource. You can subscribe to my newsletter for weekly updates, and browse the pharma and biotech job board. The jobs are directly from the company job pages and are updated several times a day. If I’m missing anything, please feel free to reach out to [email protected]!
